| Turkmenbashi International Seaport has joined to the list of «Green Ports»

                     

Environmental protection, caring for nature, preserving its beauty and wealth for future generations is one of the priorities of the country’s national policy. In our country, where issues related to ecology, biodiversity conservation, reducing the amount of harmful substances emitted into the atmosphere, and combating desertification are of great importance, this system makes a worthy contribution to the development of regional and global cooperation. In accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Turkmenistan is actively involved in ensuring the ecological balance of the Caspian Sea and in the successful implementation of all environmental tasks.

In this regard, the Turkmenbashi International Seaport strives to join the ranks of the “Green Ports” of the world and receive the international certificate “EcoPort”, confirming compliance with national and international environmental standards. The Turkmenbashi International Seaport, together with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, is carrying out relevant work to join the number of green ports in the world.

As part of the inspections, with the support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, meetings were held via video conference with the certification company EcoPortSLC of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and got acquainted with the requirements for inclusion in the list of Green ports.

At present, the seaport has been registered on the official website of EcoPortSLC of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and on November 14, 2022, it successfully passed the first stage, namely the “Self-diagnostic method” stage, to obtain the international EcoPort certificate, entered the “Green Ports of the World”. as “EcoPort” and marked on the world map on the official website of the certification company EcoPortSLC of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The first stage includes responses to questionnaires on activities carried out in the field of environmental protection, instructions on rational use of natural resources and execution of relevant documents in accordance with international requirements. In this regard, the Turkmenbashi International Seaport is carrying out the necessary work to move to the second stage of the “PERS” to obtain the international certificate “EcoPort”.
