EcoPorts certification is the topic of the meeting between representatives of the Turkmenbashi Port and the OSCE
Experts of the “Turkmendenizderyayollary” Agency and the Turkmenbashi International Seaport held an online meeting with representatives of the Office of the Coordinator of Economic and Environmental Activities of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
The event was held within the framework of the OSCE project “Strengthening Green Ports and communications in the region”, which aims to obtain an international EcoPorts certificate, promote the development of “green” ports, transport and logistics centers, as well as expand cooperation between the OSCE and the port of Turkmenbashi.
The EcoPorts certificate is issued by the European Seaports Authority (ESPO) and the Ports Environmental Monitoring System (PERS), which allows the use of digital trade technologies that protect the environment, help ports achieve sustainable development goals and introduce innovations.
EcoPorts international certification will give the Turkmenbashi International Seaport opportunities for integration into the European transport system. In addition, trainings will be organized to improve the skills of port employees. EcoPorts certification improves the efficiency of ports, their management policy, helps environmental protection and risk management. Currently, 34 European ports have EcoPorts status.
