A STRATEGY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE “LAPIS LAZULI” TRANSIT AND TRANSPORT CORRIDOR WAS PRESENTED

     On March 28, 2022, the OSCE Center in Ashgabat organized a two-day regional seminar on the implementation of the “Lapis Lazuli” transit and transport corridor in a video-conference format. The seminar was attended by over 60 representatives from four countries that signed the Lapis Lazuli Agreement: Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkmenistan and Turkey
     The event was also attended by the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, Head of Component 3 of the EU-funded Border Management Assistance Program in Central Asia, OSCE experts, as well as specialists from the Marketing and International Relations Department of Turkmenbashy International Sea port.
     The participants exchanged views and proposals for finalizing the strategy and action plan. The OSCE Center will facilitate the process of revising the strategy and action plan so that they become an integral part of the national development strategy of the countries that have signed the agreement.
     At the end of the workshop participants identified further steps to support partners along the “Lapis Lazuli” corridor in the full realization of their transport and transit potential.
